what is ASME SB338?

ASME SB-338 is a standard specification for both seamless and welded titanium and titanium alloy tubes intended for use in heat exchangers, surface condensers, and evaporators. The standard defines the chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and testing requirements, including flattening, flaring, and non-destructive tests, for 28 different grades of titanium and its alloys.

UNS R50400 seamless titanium pipe is commercially pure (CP) titanium pipe (also known as Grade 2 titanium pipe) that combines a low weight ratio with high strength and the excellent corrosion resistance inherent in titanium and its alloys. ASME SB338 UNS R50400 seamless pipe offers greater strength and pressure resistance than welded pipe due to the absence of seams. Because it can withstand high pressures, temperatures, and corrosive environments, this pipe is widely used in demanding applications in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, aerospace, and power generation.
